Tom Wrenn’s Dedication to Club and Region to be Honoured

“Cordal GAA Club members are ever so proud of their chairman, Tom Wrenn who has been selected by the East Kerry Board as their ‘East Kerry GAA Personality of 2015’ – according to club spokesperson, Nora Fealey.
Tom will be honoured by the board on this Friday night at an ‘All Stars Night’ function in The Gleneagle Hotel.
Mr. Wrenn has been recognised for his long service to the East Kerry Board as he served as a delegate for 14 years and as a referee for the board and the county for almost 20 years. He is also presently the county board delegate for his club.

Great Pride in his Club
“Tom takes great pride in his club – of which he has been chairman now for the past five years. He worked very hard along with other club officers to transform the pitch and grounds over the past number of years.
“If you speak to any of his fellow officers, past or present, they will all have only good things to say about their popular chairman. Previously serving as club secretary for a period of eight years as well as treasurer for several more, it was in his current role as club chairman that he had the well deserved honour of welcoming two presidents of the GAA to Cordal,” said Nora.
Liam O’Neill visited back in November 2013 when the club won the All Ireland SuperValu Competition. On Sunday 7th June 2015 he welcomed the present President Aogán Ó
Fearghail to Cordal to officially re-open their newly re-developed grounds.

Proud Community Man
“Tom is also a very proud community man as well and has been the local church clerk for many years. In this role, Tom’s duties include looking after all the preparations in the church ahead of masses, weddings, funerals and baptisms which take place in Cordal.
“Outside of Cordal, Tom is well known as the man at the DOE test centre at Ahern’s Garage where he has worked for the past 46 years. Tom is married to Breda and their daughter, Brid has been a very efficient joint treasurer of Cordal GAA Club over the past three years. For time out, Tom enjoys a walk back to Seanie’s (Hughes’ Bar) for a few quiet pints with his friends,” Nora concluded.
