The death has occurred of Mary Cotter (née Nolan) Toureenard, Knocknagoshel.
Mary will be sadly missed by her loving husband Dan, sons: Paul, Alan and Declan, her father Teddy and mother Sheila, sister, Ann, brother, Joe,  Eamon, John and Daniel brothers in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, relatives, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace.

The late Mary Cotter died in an accident while out walking with a group of about 30 friends in West Kerry on Sunday.

Ellen Barrett was a school friend and contemporary of Mary (Nolan) at the little two-teacher school in Toureenard. Reflecting the shock and sorrow of the parish, Ellen remembered her neighbour and friend this morning:
“Mary was always into sports even at school. Years later, when our boys were on the same teams up along,  we’d meet at the matches. She was a great woman to put in her shift when it was needed and we worked together in the GAA club’s Burger Hut during Pattern days and festivals in the village.
Her death is an awful tragedy and it’s very hard on her family to lose her like that. The small community here feels the loss as she was always in good form and smiling – it’s shocking,” said Ellen.

In a tribute to a colleague, The Scotia Clinic, Tralee posted the following:

Sadly one of the midwives at Kerry General Hospital, Mary Cotter, passed away after an accident on Sunday. Some patients have already been in touch. Mary has worked with us for eight years.
She was incredibly kind and caring. She was always cheerful with a beaming smile no matter what.
She would do anything for a woman in labour – if she could have had the baby for them she would have.
She had this phrase that always made me laugh “Come on now, give it socks” when she was trying to get the last push!!!
Mary also did so much fundraising for women who baby’s died just before/ at birth.
She will be missed by all of us. Ar Dheis Dé a anam.”

Indeed the post was responded to by women who had been in her care when they had their babies in recent years. May God be good to her.
