Airport funding to Benefit Region – Deenihan

Minister Jimmy Deenihan – Airport funding to benefit the region.

Minister Jimmy Deenihan, has said that this week’s announcement of the allocation of €66,431 for Kerry Airport will benefit Kerry as a whole.

“Funding of €66,431 has been allocated to Kerry Airport. This is part of a €1.2 million regional airport fund set to benefit Donegal, Ireland West and Waterford and Kerry Airport.

“The grant aid provided will cover 90% of the costs of approved projects.€8,370 of €9,300 required for fireman suits will be provided; €38,571 of the €42,857 needed for an emergency control vehicle will be provided and the grant will also cover €19,490 of the €21,656 needed for airside security doors. This brings the total funding to €66,431.

“These security features are vital to ensure safe operations at Kerry Airport. This funding is part of a national allocation of €1.2 million for regional airports and is very much to be welcomed.

“I would like to commend all those involved in the continued success at Kerry Airport. All funding that improves or supports the airport is very much to be welcomed as it supports the growth of the Kerry region as a whole.”
