The U-15 Rugby team from St. Patrick’s Secondary School, Castleisland travelled to Musgrave Park, Cork last week to compete in the South Munster school’s Rugby competition. The team qualified from the Kerry section back in March. This competition is run under the auspices of the IRFU for emerging school rugby teams in Munster.
Outstanding Rugby
The boys from St. Patrick’s played outstanding rugby all day and competed with great commitment and intensity. They defeated Waterpark College from Waterford and Mitchelstown College in their first two round games and thus qualified for the final where they defeated De La Salle College from Waterford.
This is a great achievement for the St. Patrick’s boys and for their college which has been doing a lot of work in developing rugby there over the last number years.

The school’s U-19 team won the inaugural Donal Walsh Memorial competition recently. St. Patrick’s would like to acknowledge the support it receives from Castleisland Rugby Club in promoting the game in the school.

They now hope to enter teams in the senior and junior cups next year. There will be food for thought here too for those who believe there’s something in the water in Currow.

Eight players on the winning team and panel come from the lovely village and its surrounding townlands.
