The St. John of God Kerry Services, Castleisland will host a Fun Sports Day at An Ríocht AC tomorrow Wednesday, May 25th from 10-30am to 2-30pm.
A great day’s fun has been lined up for the event to which the organisers hope to attract widespread support for the services they have been providing from their base here for the past 12 years.

Day Service for Adults
Oilean Beo was started in 2003 by St. John of God, Kerry Services to provide a day service for adults with Intellectual Disabilities who live in the Sliabh Luachra area.
The people who use the services have formed a very industrious team and they make greetings cards from recyclable material. They make cards for all occasions and these are displayed and sold at the reception desk at An Ríocht.
They also go on day trips to tourism centres around the county and it’s the support they get on days like tomorrow that makes all this possible.

Jim Griffin’s Honda Run
Local man, Jim Griffin has also been holding a Honda Run with great success over the past decade. It’s always held on a Sunday morning in September and all kinds of Honda bikes are invited to participate in the run which takes in an 80 mile route through different parts of the county each year.
The runs start and end at An Ríocht and it has been attracting great support from Kerry and neighbouring counties and praise for the manner in which it’s organised and co-ordinated.
Special Olympics Kerry co-ordinator, Breda O’Donoghue is hoping for a crowd at the fun/sports day tomorrow.
“We have everything in place for an enjoyable day and we hope people will attend and support us and we have a special guest lined up,” she concluded with a grin.
