Kathleen O’Sullivan claims not to be particularly lucky when it comes to draws and raffles and that kind of thing. Yet, she was invited to Walsh Bros Electrical off Main Street, Castleisland on Wednesday morning to collect a 49” Panasonic Television.

Kathleen had learned the previous day that she had won the giant screened TV in a joint competition between Radio Kerry and the Castleisland based electrical retailer.

“It was all to do with the European Cup finals in France and they asked a question each day the competition ran on the radio.

“I was asked which country would host the competition and I answered, France and I won for that day. I didn’t know until yesterday that I had won the competition and the television set outright,” said Kathleen.

Claiming that she’s not particularly lucky in draws of this kind, I recalled aloud that I thought she had won a car some years ago in a Festival of Kerry draw.

“That’s right,” Kathleen agreed. “That was a Hyundai and it was the Rose of Tralee Car Draw 16 years ago in 2000. I won a television too a few years ago at a Garvey’s SuperValu staff draw.

“I won the car that time from 40,000 other draw ticket holders. So, I suppose I’m not doing too badly,” said Kathleen.

Not bad at all for a woman who claims not to be particularly lucky.
