Rally Call for Vauxhall Vintage Enthusiasts

Vintage Opel Vauxhall enthusiasts from these parts are being invited across the border to North Cork. The invitation comes from Ted O’Connell – a man well known in Castleisland as he pops up at Ahern’s vintage shows here in Castleisland.

The ninth Ted’s Opel Vauxhall Run will take place on August 13th this year and will be based at the Riverside Park Hotel, Macroom, Co. Cork.

Registration will take place from 9am. First award will be presented at 10am. Cars will depart from the hotel at 10.15am sharp.

Discounted accommodation rate is set at €40 pps and €60 per single room.

Opel Run Reservations

The run will depart the hotel at 10.15am and travel to Ballyvourney, Coolea, Top of Coom, Kilgarvan, Kenmare, Lauragh, Healy Pass, Glengarriff. There will be a lunch stop at the Eccles Hotel, Glengarriff. Optional lunch at €15pp.

A presentation of some awards and a raffle of some spot prizes will take place after lunch. The run will then will continue to Ballylickey, Kealkill, and stop off at Gougane Barra where another award will be presented.

From Gougane Barra on to the South Lake Road by Lough Allua, Inchigeela, Toonsbridge, Hartnett’s Cross, Macroom and returning to the Riverside Park Hotel.

Usual After-party

The usual after-party will take place in the hotel bar that night. As every year, the route is of some roads used as rally stages, combined with scenic routes as well as some Wild Atlantic Way excerpts. There’s something for everyone.
There is an array of perpetual cups and awards along with four special awards presented at various locations during the run.

This event has grown to be one of the largest gatherings of Opel / Vauxhall / GM enthusiasts in the whole of Ireland. All Opel / Vauxhall / GM vehicles welcome old and new,” said Mr. O’Connell.

There will be a launch evening on Saturday, July 16th at The Riverside Park Hotel, Macroom from 5 – 7 Pm. All Welcome.
