The death has been announced of Catherine ‘Kitty’ Sheehy nee Clifford, 28 St. Stephen’s Park, Castleisland, and late of O’Rahilly’s Villas Tralee.

June 23rd 2016, Peacefully after a short illness at University Hospital Kerry. Beloved wife of Ned and adored mother of Dan, Annmarie, Tommy, Marguerite, Mary and Joan. Sadly missed by her loving husband and family, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, her 20 grandchildren, brother Michael, sisters Carmel and Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and all extended family, relatives, neighbours and many friends. R.I.P.

Christmas Day will never again be the same in one little corner of St. Stephen’s Park. There, it had become a custom for the late Kitty Sheehy to look after a band of bachelor neighbours on the day which can be one of either great celebration or over-powering sadness.

Kitty made sure that none of her neighbours in that category went without whatever she had herself. And it was one of those same neighbours who told me about her acts of great kindness.

A ‘Narrie’ to the bone, one of Kitty’s great passions in life was Joe Dolan and his music. He addressed her by name one night in a packed venue in Killarney and she walked on air afterwards.

She had every recording he ever made and every scrap of a magazine or newspaper article he featured in and his death in December 2007 came as an awful blow to her.

To Ned and their family and her circle of friends and neighbours in Castleisland and Tralee go our sincere sympathies. May God be good to her.
