Castleisland AFC B team will play Killarney Celtic in the final of Kerry’s biggest cup competition this Saturday evening at the KDL grounds at Mounthawk, Tralee at 7.15pm.

“This is a massive achievement for the boys to make the final as a ‘B team. Their path to the final is strewn with some of the counties best premier league teams – including Tralee Dynamos and Camp United,” said a supporter in anticipation of a great game.

Reach the Final

The Castleisland A team was knocked out by Camp United in the quarter final and then the Castleisland B’s beat Camp on a 4-1 margin to reach the final.

The club won the cup three years ago after a 36 year wait for the title to come around. Now the club’s B team has a chance to win it.

The team and the club are jointly hoping for the usual squad of vocal supporters and more from The Island on Saturday evening at 7.15pm when they face Killarney Celtic in the Greyhound Bar KO Cup Final.

Appeal for Support

“Celtic are probably the second best team in Kerry after Dingle,” said a Castleisland supporter. “We could do with as much support as we can get on the night,” he said.

At training on Tuesday night, manager Dan Maunsell was making final preparations for the big occasion.

“We’ve done very well in our games to date and we’re looking forward to having a right go at Killarney Celtic in the final. It would be great to bring the cup back to Castleisland so soon. One way or the other we’ll celebrate the great season we’ve had afterwards,” said Dan.
