Kerry Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris has expressed his concern that University Hospital Kerry could be about to lose its only rheumatologist due to the lack of support given to the rheumatology unit there.
“I have been aware for a number of months now that the hospital rheumatologist, Dr. Haroon has become extremely frustrated by the lack of support his unit has been afforded by the HSE, this has now culminated with his threatened departure which would be an unmitigated disaster for the hundreds of arthritis patients here in Kerry,” said Deputy Ferris.

“I am calling on the hospital management and the HSE to ensure that the rheumatology unit at UHK is properly resourced and fully staffed so patients can be reassured that this vital service will continue uninterrupted there – it is the very least that they deserve,” said Deputy Ferris.
