Now that the spring / summer schedules of events have run their course at An Ríocht Athletic Club, thoughts are firmly turning to those of the autumn / winter programme.
During the summer an innovative, off the couch and onto the road series of training evenings culminated in a Couch-to-3K road race and fun run. And it was great fun and ended in many of the first-timer participants feeling elated and with such a sense of achievement.
Their delight was shared and understood by the club and they were treated to a post event buffet in the club kitchen/dining area. The post event celebrations also came with a reminder that, now after that first step comes and equally big stride.
September Series of 5K Road Races
That is the step-up to the 5K level and training is ongoing now for the September series of road races / fun runs. Those new to this concept of fitness achievement have been provided with a five-week training schedule to help them up those steps.
The three-pronged, 3K to 5K series of races / fun runs will be held on successive weeks in September on: Wednesday 7th; Wednesday 14th and Wednesday 21st.
The regular 5K autumn / winter Couch-to-5K training schedule and series of road races / fun runs will recommence on Tuesday, September 13th. For more details call An Ríocht AC on: 066 71 42199 or email: kate@anriocht.ie
Christmas Family Festival / Snowed In
Then, a bit further down the chronological road at An Ríocht comes the Christmas Family Festival, Snowed In from Friday, December 2nd to Sunday, December 4th from 2pm each day.
“This one is for the children and the child at heart. After the astounding success of the Snowed In Family Festival at An Ríocht last year we are delighted to announce that Mr. and Mrs. Clause have set aside a weekend to stay right here with us.
“Make sure you get down to meet the gang and help them out as they prepare for Christmas. There will also be a wide range of markets to browse through and tick some gifts off the list. If you would like to take a stall please contact us on 066-7142199 as soon as possible,” said An Ríocht AC Manager, Kate McSweeney.
