The girls looked gorgeous, the boys dashing. The sullen sky and the weather it sent made no attempt to reflect the joys of life radiating from the vicinity of St. John Hall on Friday evening.

The young ladies from St. Joseph’s Presentation Secondary School presented themselves as their class-mates and teachers and dates had never seen them before.

Charm and Excitement

It was the evening of the greatly anticipated Debs Night and the hall was appointed to contain all the charm and excitement of this very special occasion in their lives.

There, the Presentation Debutantes and their dates / friends met between 6.30pm and 7pm as they awaited their coach.

Compliments flew back and forth on the choice of gown, hair style, jewelry and make-up.

Graduate with Grace

Proud-as-punch parents stood by in clusters and wondered where the years have flown as their sons and daughters finally graduate with grace and beauty to the swan stage of their young lives.

IPhone photographs of groups and individual portraits of flowing gowns and three-piece suits abounded during the brief gathering at St. John’s.

Then it was off to the Brandon Hotel in Tralee for a night to remember – and to play out the final act in a drama which had been at the dream and planning stages for weeks or months before.
