The shocking news of Timmy Broderick’s sudden passing earlier today has gripped the town and environs this evening.

At only 43 years of age, Timmy passed away after a short illness at Kerry University Hospital.

As family and friends struggle to come to terms with their sudden loss, those who knew him reflect on the life of a sports fan of great enthusiasm.

They remember a man who was never more at home than when at a dart board or a pool table or on the tee-box of the local pitch and putt club. In recent years, Timmy had immersed himself in memorial tournaments in honour of his gifted, late father, Danny.

First came the Danny Broderick Memorial Cup for pitch and putt players in 2011. More recently came the Danny Broderick Memorial Darts Tournament at the Half Barrel Bar in early 2015.

Timmy was up to his elbows in the organisation of both and he revelled in the company they brought.

Sincere condolences to his family and friends and may God be good to him.

Funeral arrangements will follow in due course.
