Our neighbouring parish of Currow has been hit yet again with the devastating loss of a young husband and father to a farming related accident.

A pall of sadness descended on Saturday evening as the news spread of the accidental and tragic death of Shane Foley (43) in a farm machinery accident.

Mr. Foley of Barnfield in Currow, who has been described locally, by several people who knew him, as ‘a genuinely nice man and an active community volunteer’ died late on Saturday afternoon in an accident as he was removing a hedge cutter from his tractor.

Shane Foley is being described as a man who was always involved in anything that was going on in his local community and was very active in the local GAA club.

Two separate investigations are being conducted into the tragic incident.

The following notice has been posted on the rip.ie website with the funeral arrangements to be added later. May God be good to him and to those mourning his loss.
