There was a happy ending to tonight’s Glounsharoon rescue helicopter saga.

A man missing in the fields in the area east of the viewing park was found safe and well within the past hour or so.

Castleisland Garda Station confirmed the happy ending after the emergency services were stood down approaching 10pm tonight.

A man from the Castleisland town area got lost or disoriented in the fields and the services were called as a precaution.

Fixed Spot

The viewing park held almost three dozen cars as people were dragged away from the warmth of homes in the area to join in a vigil devoid of any clue as to what was afoot.

The helicopter remained in a fixed spot for well over half an hour while a searchlight scanned the fields below.

All’s Well

Nobody seemed to know what was happening even as the event reached its happy conclusion and the chopper moved away in the starry, starry, freezing night and back to base.

All’s well that ends well.
