There they were, minding their own business at this month’s Bank of Ireland Enterprise Town Expo when they came to the attention of Upfront front woman, Orla Diffily.

Now The Mad Ones boutique, its clothes and outfits will appear on the RTÉ One Today Show with Daithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, November 29th from 4pm.

The Mad Ones, namely: Kate McSweeney, Noreen Cronin and Tara Walmsley are really grateful to Ms. Diffely for ‘this massive opportunity’ to promote their fledgling business on the national broadcaster.

Most Watched Daytime Show

The Today Show is Ireland’s most watched daytime programme which delights in getting Ireland talking and giving away some of the best prizes on television.

Its daily, Monday to Friday menu is full of the latest lifestyle and showbiz news. It has a team of experts covering everything from tips on cooking to glamour and style.

This is exactly where Ms. Diffely and The Mad Ones come in as they parade their unique brand of clothing for people from six to 60 and well beyond on tomorrow’s show.

“We’re obviously delighted to get this opportunity to show what we’re about to a nationwide audience and we’re grateful to Orla Diffley for ‘spotting’ us at the Expo,” said Kate McSweeney.

Sense of Community

“We set out to create a sense of community stemming from the shop itself and we have made many new friends. As we hoped, the shop tends to act as a social meeting place as well as just somewhere you come when you need an item of clothing.

“Regularly, you will find complete strangers sitting on the couch waiting to see what another person (who they’ve never met) tries on and helping them make the ultimate decision as to what they take home with them.

“An outfit can act as the topic for discussion with people throwing in their tuppence worth as to whether it’s getting their blessing or otherwise.

Avenue of Style

“It’s lovely to see people investigate their own style and find themselves trying out pieces they would not normally go for, often finding a whole new avenue of style to explore for themselves.

“We are only about nine months into this wonderful journey and it has been, and will continue to be a learning process.

“We’ve moved the shop around a zillion times until we found a flow that works for the customers and for us. It’s all fun and games really,” said Kate.
