Happy Christmas to All from The Maine Valley Post

The Maine Valley Post sends its advertisers, readers and supporters everywhere its sincere wishes for A Very Happy Christmas and A Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

As generations of people before us used to say, without fail, at this time of year:

Go mbeirimíd beo ar an am seo arís. Or: ‘that we may be alive at this time (of year) again.’

I’d like to thank all those who supported The Maine Valley Post in any way in the course of the year.

Reading its daily content and commenting – one way or the other – makes you a vital link in the sense of community it draws and thrives on.

By liking and sharing the news content of The Post you are an integral part of the support network in this new and almost inexplicably instantaneous news transfer system of the world we live and operate in.

Our advertisers play an outstandingly supportive role in the day-to-day survival of the service we provide.

Thanks to the people who email or ring with news items or go to the bother of sending in reports on a regular basis on behalf of their clubs, favourite charities, local schools or whatever they’re involved in.

Thanks to our many readers overseas who dip in with comments to the various stories we carry daily. Their insightful contributions add greatly to the community, sharing nature of The Post.

There are people with empty spaces in their hearts and at their tables today. They too shared their sad news with us and our readers in the course of the year.

The readers responded with their kind comments and condolences and this has proved a source of comfort to the bereaved in their times of need.

The Maine Valley Post is taking a few days rest and will return to the pumps with renewed vigour then.

Wishing you all health and happiness for the rest of Christmas and all of the New Year and well beyond.

Sláinte go Deo agus Slán go Fóill…..John Reidy, Christmas Day 2016.
