The news that all Munster Rugby fans wanted to hear was confirmed yesterday by Northampton Saints and by Munster itself.

The UK based club revealed that JJ Hanrahan is to return to his native province. It has emerged that he and a couple of others have signed two-year contracts with Munster.

The 24 year old Currow man will rejoin the Munster squad before the start of the next season.

The news is sure to gather in even more support for the province in this rugby mad locality.

Extra Spice for Visitors

And there will be an extra spice for the visit of the New Jersey, USA based Morris Rugby Corporation to Castleisland on their 2018 tour.

They will be visiting on that occasion to defend their John Browne Memorial Cup winners status.

It was with the Castleisland club that the young JJ Hanrahan began his playing career just over a decade ago.

That being the case, it may not be beyond the organisers of the Castleisland RFC V Morris RC return match to prevail on the home grown star to referee or umpire the return clash at the Crageens in January 2018. Wouldn’t that be some draw.

Move Mooted in December 2016

The news of JJ Hanrahan’s return to Munster was being mooted as long ago as early last December and The Maine Valley Post carried the story at the time.

There was a lot of will he – won’t he in the meantime and now there is huge welcome for the fact that the contracts are signed and that the latest Currow rugby star is on his way back to where he truly belongs. May the road rise with him.
