Actor and playwright Michael Hilliard Mulcahy, who is currently the drama facilitator with Killarney Municipal District, will be giving a series of free drama workshops in February for anyone interested in acting.
The workshops are being held in the Killarney Cultural Centre on the weekends of February 11th and 12th, and 18th and 19th.
Plays of John B. Keane
The workshops will focus on scene work from the plays of John B. Keane.
“John B. Keane’s writing is a gift to actors,’ said Mr. Mulcahy when explaining his choice of scenes for the workshops.
“These scenes will be funny, dark and full of the lively rhythms of Kerry speech. It should make for a great four days of acting,” he said.
The workshops are open to anyone, from those with basic experience in acting to those who have been on the boards on many occasions.
Suitable Scene Work
All nationalities are welcome and suitable scene work will be available for everyone.
On the final day there will be a short presentation of the chosen scenes at the Killarney Cultural Centre to which all are welcome.
“I want people to have the opportunity to show their work at the end of the two weekends. Nothing beats the buzz of live performance and that’s where the learning really happens,” he enthused.
Places will be limited to a maximum of 14. For more information and to book a place, please contact the Kerry County Council Arts Office at 066 71 83 541 or: arts@kerrycoco.ie.
