Danny Healy Rae, TD was pleased at the announcement by Minister Michael Creed this week of the 2017 National Reserve Scheme.

“I would like to welcome the announcement made by the Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed, that there will be a National Reserve Scheme for 2017.

“I have been advocating for this scheme to be introduced for months. Priority for the reserve will be given to ‘Young Farmers’ and New Entrants to Farming’ – and that’s to be welcomed,” said Deputy Healy Rae.

“Successful applicants will receive approximately €185 per hectare and it is anticipated that over 500 farmers will apply for the scheme.
The scheme is due to open in March 2017 and applications will be done online. The closing date for receipt of applications under the scheme will be on May 15th 2017,” he said.
