Congratulations to Labhaoise Walmsley on being selected for the 2017 Kerry Ladies minor panel.

Well done also to Eilís Lynch, Lorraine Scanlon and Andrea Murphy who were part of the successful Kerry Ladies team that defeated Monaghan by 3-11 to 2-9 in Listowel on Sunday.

The Desmond’s ladies senior team play Southern Gaels in the county league at home. Throw in tbc.

Desmonds V Ballydonoghue in Round 3

Desmonds senior men’s team hosted Finuge in Round 2 of the North Kerry League in Castleisland on Saturday. Desmonds won on the score of: 0-10pts to 2-3.

This game was played in very bad weather conditions and this did not make for good football on the day.

Overall it was another match the team needed at this time of the year.

Desmonds team: Steven Bartlett, Gearoid Leonard, David Lynch, Pa White, Conor O’Shea, Brian Leonard, Barry Lynch, Marc O’Connor, Maurice O’Connell, Micheál Walsh, Tadhg O’Connell, Cian D.O’Connor, Neill Durkin, Thomás Hickey, Maurice Hickey. Subs: Patrick Horan, Shane Walsh, Tadhg Walsh, Seán Lynch and Micheál Galvin.

Scorers for Desmonds were: Thomás Hickey 0-6; Tadgh O’Connell, Micheál Walsh, Barry Lynch and Seán Lynch one point each.

Next game is on this coming Sunday March 5th when they travel to play Ballydonoghue in Round 3 of the North Kerry league throw in at 12pm.

Club Lotto at Kearney’s Bar

Castleisland Desmonds GAA Club Lotto takes place tomorrow night, Saturday, March 4th in Kearney’s Bar.

The jackpot stands at €2,700. Tickets on sale at €2 or 3 for €5 and can be purchased from any club officer or on the night.

Minors V John Mitchel’s

The club’s minor boys team play their second game of this year’s county league when they travel to Tralee to play John Mitchel’s tomorrow, Saturday March 4th. Throw is at 4pm.

Having defeated Keel-Listry in their opening match by 5-7 to 0-11 away in Listry they will hope to continue on this good run of form with tomorrow’s game.

Scór Finals

The Castleisland District finals of Scor were held in Knocknagoshel last Sunday evening. Seven of the Desmond’s players participated.

Solo Singing: Amy McCarthy; Ballad Group: Sadie Ni Bhrosnachain, Joannah Ni Mhuineachain, Katie Ni Choittir, Chloe Ni Bhroin and Chantal Ni Bhruadair.

Congrats to The Pres Girls

Congratulations to the Desmonds Ladies players who were on the winning Pres Castleisland, All Ireland U-16 A Basketball team that defeated Portlaoise. Involved were: Kayla O’Connor, Gemma Kearney, Emma O’Regan, Marilyn Cahill and Áine Sheehan.
