Sinn Féin TD for Kerry, Martin Ferris has said that today’s visit by Minister for Transport, Shane Ross, TD, must be more than the usual PR stunt for politicians looking towards the next general election.
“Kerry is well used to these PR visits by ministers who come and offer sympathy and nothing else,” said Deputy Ferris.

Solace to People of Kerry

“Todays visit must be more than the same old story year in year out. A minister comes and offers solace to the people of Kerry but once they have left the county bounds we are forgotten about once again.

“Minister Shane Ross has shown time and time again that he is a ‘Hands-off Minister’ and the people of Kerry and particularly those who use our roads need to be treated fairly.

Don’t Need Sympathy

“Minister Ross should outline what he and his department are going to do for hard pressed Kerry motorists.

“We don’t need his sympathy and we certainly don’t need any more broken promises or PR stunts.

“The proposed bypasses of Macroom and Adare should be prioritised now, not in five or 10 years time,” Deputy Ferris concluded.
