Cordal GAA Club News Round-Up

Cordal played Tuosist in Round 2 of the Division 5 County League on Sunday, March 19th in Cordal at 2pm. They continued their strong start in the league after beating Churchill only the week before.

Cordal exited at full-time with a 0-15 to Tuosist’s 0-10. In the first half Cordal played against the wind. Mike T. O’Sullivan was the first scorer of the game, he booted the ball over the bar in the fourth minute for Tuosist.

Brian Reidy provided Cordal’s only score of the first half, a point in the eighth minute. The rest of the half was left to wind assisted Tuosist who added six more points to their scoresheet.

A Crucial Chance

Cordal missed a crucial chance to close the gap after the referee knocked the ball away during a penalty.

Colm Brosnan added a point from a converted a free. He scored again in the 22nd minute. Mike T. O’Sullivan scored the last point of the half before the referee blew the whistle. Cordal finished six behind at 0-01 to 0-07.

Cordal came back motivated for the second half. They were now assisted by the wind and quickly went on the attack.

The first five scores of the second half were Cordal’s: Philip O’Connor, 0-01; John Brosnan, 0-01; Brian Reidy, 0-02 and Donal McCarthy, 0-01.

Almost Level

Tuosist returned to the scoring tally with a point in the eighth minute scored by Mike T. O’Sullivan. Cordal added five more crucial points after this from: Philip Griffin. Kieran O’Donoghue, and Michéal Cahill and Brian Reidy with 0-02.

Tuosist almost managed to level the scores after converting two frees putting the sides neck and neck.

Another League Win

Cordal kept control of the final few minutes adding four final points to their tally. Brian Reidy after a strong scoring stretch claimed the final point of the day in the 31st minute.

Full time left Cordal on top at 0-15 to Tuosist’s 0-10.

Well done Cordal on another County League win. Hopefully we’ll keep up the pace again in Round 3 against Valentia on the second weekend of April.

Cordal GAA appeal to you to donate your clean clothes, pairs of shoes, belts, handbags, curtains and bedlinen. No duvets or pillows please. This is a continuous collection by our Club and all funds raised will help to improve the Club’s facilities and contribute to the Club’s running costs. Donations can be dropped off at Jackie Reidy’s Menswear, Main St. Castleisland or at the Cordal Community Centre. Thanks to everyone helping this collection to be a continuing success.
