Out of a need for such a club or support group in the general area, a cabal of local, keen photographers from this and surrounding parishes got together last month and from this emerged Castleisland Camera Club.
Now, the club is about to hold its third meeting tonight, Thursday, April 20th at 8:15pm. The previous two have been held at the River Island Hotel; tonight’s meeting will be at the NEWKD offices at The Crageens.
At the first meeting, at which the club was formed, the following committee was a also set up: Chairman, Pat Hartnett; Secetary, Ann Bergin; Public Relation Officer, Breda Mc Galey; Treasurers, Anette O’Donoghue and Mary O’Donoghue. Website and I.T. Elaine Pembroke.
Executive committee: David Browne, Breda Pembroke, John Lenihan and John Spillane.
Chairman Hartnett said after the recent meeting that there was great enthusiasm for the setting up of the club and that tonight’s gathering would strive to put a plan in place to take the club forward.
Mr. Hartnett also stressed that the club is for all levels of ability and interest and that gear or brands of camera or equipment is the least of their considerations.
“We’re open to pure beginners and well as the more experienced photographers and whatever kind of camera you have just bring it along and we’ll go from there,” he said.
