Cordal Coiste Na nÓg News Round-Up

Cordal/Scartaglin U-16s commenced their campaign in Division 7 of the Lee Strand County League with an away fixture against John Mitchel’s on Wednesday.

The home side prevailed on the night. Cordal/Scartaglin welcomed Asdee/Ballylongford to Cordal for Round 2 on this Wednesday.

Cordal/Scart U-14

Cordal/Scartaglin Under 14 played Round 1 of the East Kerry Region League Division 3.

The game was played in Cordal against Gneeveguilla on Monday 26th. The home team played very well with both teams serving up an exciting game of football despite the heavy rainfall during the game. The game finished on a score-line of Cordal/Scartaglin 2-10 to Gneeveguilla 2-5. Next fixture to be played also in the East Kerry Region League, is an away game against Rathmore to be played on July 3rd at 7pm. The competition continues with an away to Spa on July 10th.

Fantastic Season for Cordal U-12s

Cordal U-12s continued their fantastic season when they travelled to Killorglin to play Laune Rangers on Friday in Division 9 of the Lee Strand County League.

Working very hard for each other against a physically stronger team, they finished the first half in front.

Laune Rangers came back very strong in the second half. The cool head and athleticism of Oileán Walsh was the difference in the end. He rose high over the rest to spectacularly to fist a free kick into the net, this goal separated the teams at the end.

The game finished on a score-line of Cordal 3-9 to Laune Rangers 2-9. Their busy schedule continued playing St. Pats of Blennerville on Wednesday in Cordal.

Cordal won this the game well on score-line of Cordal 5-17 to St Pats 1-7. Their game against Sneem/Derrynane, the last in the current round of the County League, has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 12th in Cordal at 7.30pm.

Please turn out and support the players and their mentors as they continue to represent their jersey and club with pride.

Thanks to all the children of Knocknagoshel and Cordal branches of Coiste Na nÓg who played at half-time of the Cordal versus Knocknagoshel Senior game.

Thanks to the mentors of both clubs for organising the games.

It added considerably to the occasion of the opening the stand at the Cordal GAA Club pitch in memory of the late Tom Wrenn.
