Traffic Stopping Performance by Galway Street Club

The Mad Ones from The Mad Ones transported them down from Galway; they stopped traffic on Castleisland’s Main Street this afternoon; Betty watered them; Den Joe fed them; They’re brilliant; They’re the Galway Street Club. Welcome to Castleisland, Saturday July 1st 2017.

There is many a great saying about music and its hold over those open to its charms. I met a man on the street here today and, while listening to the Galway Street Club band, he observed: “Isn’t it a fright the power that music have on some people.”

Famous German Philosopher

He’s right. Thank God – but he reminded me of the study by the famous German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche: ‘And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.’

Lots of people heard the music today, some danced – others were afraid there would be too many who may not hear the music.

Little Landlocked Town

It made for a most unusual summer Saturday in our little landlocked town and we smiled at each other and all agreed that we should have more of this in our lives.

And most of us were sober and others said they had just put drops in their lighting eyes.

The Galway Street Club will appear live at The Crageens on the grounds of Castleisland Rugby Club tonight from 10pm to 12 midnight. There will be a disco from 8:30 to 10.
