On Saturday four Castleisland competitors took part in the National Community Games Finals at the National Sports Campus at Abbotstown in Dublin.

Shane Óg McGaley competed in the shot putt, after three fantastic rounds in a highly competitive field, Shane Óg finished in fourth place, bringing home the pewter medal.

Ava Fitzmaurice, John O Connor and Aoife Kerins all finished second in their respective heats before going into the semi finals on Sunday.

On Sunday, first up were Ava Fitzmaurice and John O’Connor in the U-14 x100m.

Ava was very unlucky to get pipped for a place in the final and John finished second to go on to the final.

Here, John ran a fantastic race and finished fourth to claim a pewter medal. Aoife Kerins was next up in the U-16 x 200m and was unlucky not to get a place in the final.

Jack Breen was our next competitor in the U-12 cycling on grass. This was also a highly competitive competition and Jack had a great race but was unlucky to finish just outside the medals.

“All in Castleisland Community Games are very proud of all our competitors,” said PRO Bríd Kenny.
