The Castle of the Island Society has succeeded in acquiring sufficient funding to commence filming on a documentary which will reveal the lost history of the 1226 founded Castleisland Desmond Castle.

“As founder of the society, as well as researcher and producer of the documentary, I must confess that it is an exciting undertaking to finally have the opportunity to explore the unique history of this castle for the first time,” said Rob McGuire.

“I will be working in collaboration with Red Viper Media Arts in producing the documentary and filming will take over three weeks to complete.

“The Castle of the Island Society is still seeking financial support in order to complete post production work over the coming months.

“Once all of the work is complete, we intend to hold the premiere of the documentary entitled The Castle of the Island free of charge in the River Island Hotel in Castleisland in February 2018.

“I would like to thank all who made it possible for the project to get to the filming stage for their interest and support,” said Mr. McGuire.
