Desmonds U-15 Girls

On Monday,  September 18th the Desmond’s U-15 Girls won the Co. Championship by defeating Na Gael of Tralee on 5-9 to 0-4. They played some lovely football on the evening and the work done by the girls and team management was there for all to see on the night.

They had a squad of 25 for this year’s championship and great credit is due to all of the girls on their great victory and to their team management in the way they had the team prepared.

Desmonds U-12 in Thrilling Final with Knock/Brosna

The Desmond’s U-12 boys team contested the final of the Castleisland District Cup in Castleisland last Friday evening when they played Knock-Brosna. There was a large crowd of supporters from both clubs on the evening which was played in beautiful autumn weather. With the scoreboard reading in favour of Knock-Brosna 2:04 to Desmond’s 1:05 at half time, you felt that this game was going to go all the way to the wire.

The second half saw some great play from both teams and with 12 minutes to go Desmond’s were winning on the score of 2-8 to 2-4 but credit to the visitors they drew level and went into two point lead in injury time after goals were exchanged by both teams.

Desmond’s scored another point in injury time and a draw looked on the cards but credit to Knock-Brosna they held on to win on the score of 3-12 to 3-11.

Well done to both teams and their management on a great evening of entertainment and well done to the Castleisland District Board and the Desmond’s Bord na nOg for helping to  organising the competition.
