Rehearsal levels have stepped up for members of the Castleisland Parish Choir in recent weeks in preparation for their big Magical Christmas Concert with The Three Tenors on Tuesday, December 19th at 8pm.

That may well be enough to be going on with. However, an invitation to perform live on RTÉ Television and Radio One for its Sunday morning mass has just arrived in the lap of the choir.

Almost 40 Strong

The almost 40 strong choir, with representatives from all corners of the parish and almost all age groups, will travel to Dublin for its first live television and radio broadcast on Sunday morning, February 11th.

The Three Tenors set to visit Castleisland on December 19th.

This is a huge honour for the choir, under the stewardship of Ailish Walsh and it’s a morning on which TV sets will be switched on early to catch the performance.

In April 2012 a new organ was installed in the Church of Saints Stephen and John and the choir has been steadily growing in recent years.

Classical and Religious Music

On Magical Christmas Concert night, Ireland’s most popular singing trio, Dominic McGorian, Shane Morgan and Derek Moloney will perform classical and religious music and Christmas favourites.

They will also be on their first visit to Castleisland and coming directly from the National Concert Hall. Most of their concerts in 2017 have been sold out in advance.

In the meantime: Tickets for the Magical Christmas Concert at €20 each are now available from the following outlets: Castleisland Parish Office on 066 71 41241; Jackie Reidy, Menswear, Castleisland; Kearney’s Post Office, Cordal and Daly’s Shop and Post Office, Scartaglin.
