A subtle reminder that there was a right gathering of contemporary musical stars at Tureencahill Community Centre on a Saturday night early last month for the visit of the RTÉ Radio One Céilí House crew.

This was the latest in the long line of field trips by RTÉ Radio – and going away back too.

Seriously Good Music

Former Stockton’s Wing banjo player, Kieran Hanrahan was the fear a’ tí on the night and there was some seriously deep and good music played.

The Céilí House crew had been invited by Bertie O’Leary and backed by his centre committee.

Local singers, Christy Cronin and Michelle O’Sullivan did their parts to perfection on the night.

Fine Examples

Musicians: Con Moynihan, Jimmy Doyle, Bryan O’Leary, Joe O’Sullivan, Ciarán O’Sullivan, Róisín Cronin, Emma O’Leary, Colm Guilfoyle, Niamh Dalton and Michael O’Connor kept their side of the bargain and provided some fine examples of the music of the area.

Kieran Hanrahan interviewed Handed Down co-founder, P.J.Teahan and he was filled in

on his Scartaglin based schedule from here to World Fiddle Day Scartaglin in May.

The Céilí House special from Tureencahill Community Centre will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio One tonight, Saturday night, November 25th at a couple of minutes after 9pm.
