Cordal v. Tarbert: County League Division 4 Round 2

By PRO Tim O’Donoghue

As the D:ream song goes ‘Things can only get better.’

Cordal lost to Tarbert in fine weather conditions in Cordal on Sunday. A goal by Sean O’Connell gave the home side the perfect start after twenty seconds but conceding six frees and two more scores we were behind by 1-3 to Tarbert’s 0-8 at half time.

Three Point Lead

Cordal quickly levelled matters with Philip O’Connor and Sean Óg Ó Ciardubháin adding points but Tarbert battled hard and took a three point lead.

A high ball was floated into the Tarbert square and it was scrambled in by Eamon Nolan to make it 2-7 to 0-13 with eight minutes left.

Tarbert finished strongly with two more frees to win the match with 2-7 to 0-15. The championship is around the corner so a refocus is needed but there is no doubt we’ll give the Junior Championship a rattle this weekend.
