Desmonds Notes Mast 1Intermediate Football Championship Round 1: Desmonds 1-11 Glenflesk 1-15.

Desmonds fell short by four points in Killarney on Saturday when they played Glenflesk in the opening round of the intermediate football championship.

This was their second clash in a couple of weeks. In the previous game Desmonds had defeated them in the Co. League.

Honours were even in the first half as they finished seven points all. Thomas Lynch, Danny Hickey Pat Fitzjerald and Cian O’Connor with a point apiece and Thomas Hickey with three were the scorers.

Glenflesk came out on fire in the second half adding a goal and two points before Luka Brosnan scored Desmond first point of the half after 14 minutes.

Thomas Hickey added two more for Desmonds to Glenflesk’s one point with thirteen minutes left and just three points separating the teams.

Glenflesk added two more and Desmonds were pushing hard as Thomas Hickey fisted over. However, Glenflesk added more points but Desmonds never gave in as Thomas Hickey added one more and Adam Donoghue hit the upright with a minute to go but it was Glenflesk’s day.

Desmonds are still in with chance as they face Laune Rangers and then Waterville in the remaining games of the group.

Fixtures:

U-16s at home to Austin Stacks on Wednesday at 7pm. U-14s at home to St Mary’s at 6 30 pm on Friday.

Intermediate Championdhip Home Game

Desmonds are at home to Laune Rangers on this Sunday, April 8th. in round two of the intermediate championship at 2 30 pm.

Home Game for U-12 Boys

The U-12 boys have a home game at 6 pm on this Sunday, April 8th.

Ladies GAA: Congrats Gemma

Congrats to Gemma Kearney who was a member of the Kerry Ladies U-16 team which defeated Cork by 5-14 to 1-6 in the Munster championship.

Well Done: Hanna, Ciara, Aisling and Ruth

Well done also to Hanna Herlihy, Ciara Cronin, Aisling Shire and Ruth Cahill who were members of the Kerry U- 14 team which defeated Tipperary by 6-3 to 3-11 in the semi final of the Munster Championship.

Club Meeting This Wednesday

The next meeting of Desmonds GAA Club will be held be held in the River Island Hotel on this Wednesday at 8 30pm please note this is the final date for the payment of memberships for 2018.

Well Done Brosna !

Thanks to all who helped on Sunday for Desmonds hosting of the Intermediate Championship game between Brosna and Milltown. Brosna came out on top by the narrowest of margins and well done to them.

Desmond Lotto Results

No jackpot  winner emerged from Desmonds recent Lotto draw held in Fagin’s Bar.

The numbers Drawn were: 2, 5, 12 and 28.

Consolation prizes went to: Johnnie Roche, €30 with €20 each to: Donal Kelliher, Pats Commane, and Colm O’Shea.
