The Sliabh Luachra Boxing Club’s interest in the recent Munster championships got under way with a bout in the G141kg category.

Here, Shauna Riordan was in the ring with Sarah Murray of St. Coleman’s.

Shauna put on a great display of boxing for her first ever contest in the ring.

Back in Training

However, it was not to be but she’s back in training for her next fight and is looking forward to it.

Up next for Sliabh Luachra was G4 55kg Katelyn Horan whom beat Modesta Ravoyta of Duhallow Boxing Club.

Katelyn had a tough battle on her hands but, as a former All-Ireland champion, she fought very well using her experience to become G4 Munster Champion.

Another Irish Champ

The Castleisland club was represented in the G4 57kg class by another Irish champion in Ava Fitzmaurice.

Ava defeated beat Aoife O Callaghan of the Glen Boxing Club.

Ava also turned in another great performance and, she too, used her skills and experience to become the G4 57kg Munster Champion.

All-Ireland Glory

Danielle O Neill will also join her team mates in their quest for All-Ireland glory in the finals in Dublin next week.

The girls will know who they are drawn with on as soon as the draw is made in Dublin.

All at the Sliabh Luachra Boxing Club and the community in general wish the girls the best of luck in the All-Ireland semi-finals in Dublin on May 18th and 19th.

Banner

The Maine Valley Post has, is and always will be a free resource for the people of the locality and its wider diaspora.

When we started in 2013, the intention was to be a weekly, online newsletter. Over time, the site has evolved into a much different beast with multiple updates on a daily basis.
Because of its nature as a digital publication, it brings with it certain expenses: computers and cameras that require updating and maintenance; internet hosting and access; to say nothing of the time and hard work that goes into the site. It all adds up…
Our online community has always been our greatest asset and a vocal supporter of the Maine Valley Post since day one.
