Take Care on the Roads, Keep an Eye on the Dogs

The Weather Crock was at a low ebb for most of the week and started climbing just before the first clap of thunder this evening. That’s a good sign. ©Photograph: John Reidy

We’re in the middle of our thunderstorm here in Castleisland now and the first, huge raindrops are falling on welcoming fields and plants.

It was lovely while it lasted – the sun I mean – and let’s hope we get some more of it.

Mind the Dogs

People with pets and especially dogs might want to keep a close eye on them as thunder drives them mad and they just run away.

Spot flooding is being forecast and roads will be slippery for a while after the rain and great care is being urged if you’re driving.

The Met Éireann Forecast is as follows:

Status Yellow – Thunder warning for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Wicklow, Donegal, Cork and Kerry.

Scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Potentially large amounts of rainfall in a short period of time with spot flooding.

Issued: Friday 08 June 2018 13:00 and valid from Friday 08 June 2018 13:00 to Friday 08 June 2018 23:00.
