Prior to this game there was a minute’s silence for the late Peter Tangney and John Curtin who both passed away recently.

Never Got Going

Desmonds were short many of their starting fifteen for various reasons and never got going on the day.

A goal and two points from Thomas Hickey in the first half kept Desmonds in the game as they trailed the visitors by four points at the break.

A Deserved Win

The second half didn’t get much better as they could only manage a point from Thomas Hickey and two points from sub Shane O’Connell.

Kenmare added a goal and eight points for a deserved win. Up next for Desmonds is Austin Stacks in a couple of weeks.

Listowel’s Early Goal Sinks Desmonds Minors

Desmond’s played their first game in the North Kerry league on Thursday last but were defeated by Listowel after the latter scored a surprise goal in the first minute.

Responded Well

Desmond’s responded well with three points from Danny Hickey and one from Steven Murphy.

The sides exchanged points but a brilliant goal by Listowel, coupled with four unanswered points gave them a 2-10 to 0-10 lead at the break.

The Better Team

Listowel were the better team in the second half as Desmonds tired and the Fealesiders emerged comfortable winners by 4-18 to 1-14.

Danny Hickey scored 0-10; David Shanahan 0-2 and Stephen Murphy 0-2.

They play Moyvane/Tarbert on Mon, August 6th in Castleisland in the next round.
