Kerry Athletes on Irish Team for European Triathlon Championships

Kerry athletes on the Irish Triathlon team: Paudie Murphy, Majella Diskin, Caroline Murphy and Suzanne O’Sullivan.

Four Kerry athletes will represent Ireland in the 2018 ETU European Triathlon Championships in Strathclyde Country Park in Motherwell to the south east of Glasgow next weekend.

Co. Mayo native, Castleisland resident, Majella Diskin and Suzanne O’Sullivan from Currans will be joined by Paudie and Caroline Murphy from Tralee for the August 9th to 11th. competition.

European Glory

The event will see over 160 of the top Triathletes on the continent compete for European glory at the Scottish venue.

There will be individual male and female events and a mixed relay race at the end of the competition and other exciting sporting spectacles for spectators.

Pulses Racing

In the water, on the bike or on the final sprint to the finish line, the Triathlon is guaranteed to set pulses racing.

Competitors face a distance across three disciplines – a 1,500m swim, a 40km cycle and a 10km run and the first athlete to complete the course wins.

Mixed Relay Event

In the Mixed Team Relay event, two men and two women form a team and each undertake a 250 metre swim, a 6km cycle and 1.6km run.

The Kerry athletes will represent Ireland in the events in their respective age groups.
