The Castleisland based Sliabh Luachra Boxing Club had a bout of good news at the weekend after club member and Killorglin native, Barry O’Connor won the club’s first Irish Senior Cadets title.
Barry had his hand raised in victory in the final of 57kg Irish Senior Cadet Championship at the National Stadium after a bout against a very good boxer in Martin Brady of the West Belfast based Gleann Boxing Club.
Serious Title Contenders
The Castleisland club member won on a score of 5-0 in a weight category which carried a big entry and some serious contenders for the title.
“Barry had to fight his way to top with three tough contests on his way to the final on Sunday.
The club members are super proud of Barry as he has already won Kerry, Munster and Irish titles and now a Senior Cadet title and that’s impressive,” said club official, Jennifer O’Sullival-Coffey.
