Danny Healy Rae TD has issued a statement in which he expresses bitter disappointment that 12 post offices in Kerry are being closed under the watch of this government.

Heart Torn Out

“The heart is being torn out of 12 communities in rural Kerry and Minister Denis Naughten and his government will never be forgiven for this,” said Deputy Healy Rae.

While Minister Naughten is holding the line that these closures do not sound the death-knell for rural Ireland, those in the firing line are mostly pensioners who will now have to get taxis or thumb lifts to the nearest standing Post Office.

What’s Fianna Fáil Doing?

Many people are wondering what exactly, apart from arm waving, Fianna Fáil is doing as the government and An Post go on their plundering spree.

Their spree is taking them through parts of Ireland where the Post Office is just about the last line of hope for the residents of these government forsaken areas.

RTÉ Published List of Closures

RTÉ recently published a list of the post offices closures throughout the country and you’ll see the RTÉ graph here. Offices to close include those in: Asdee; Ballinskelligs; Ballylongford; Ballymacelligott; Banemore Cross; Currow; Duagh; Gneeveguilla; Kilflynn; Knocknagoshel; Mastergeehy and Moyvane.
