Scartaglin Heritage Centre will play host again to the Handed Down series of Sliabh Luachra lectures and performances on its seasonal return on Friday, September 21st. at 8pm.

The launch of the new season, which will take place in the kitchen of the village heritage centre, will coincide with Culture Night 2018.

Beginning of Series Five

“We’re delighted and proud to announce our programme for Series 5 of Handed Down and we wish to thank our presenters for once again agreeing to rise to the challenge and taking on the titles and ideas they were given,” said co-organiser, P.J. Teahan.

“We look forward to showcasing the young musicians of the area and welcoming old friends as well as newcomers.

Entertainment Value

“As well as the entertainment value of the series it also aims to raise enough funds to hold the World Fiddle Day Celebrations in Scartaglin on May 18th 2019,” said P.J.

World Fiddle Day 2019 will celebrate the seminal Sliabh Luachra recording of The Star Above The Garter in 1969.

In the meantime, there will be monthly, Handed Down sessions in Scart spanning the rest of the autumn and all of the winter and spring.
