The funding was used by the club to purchase gear which will be worn by the U-18 squad when they travel to Dublin in early November for the first round of the National Cup.

The Castleisland side has been drawn against the following teams in this qualifying round: DUC Mercy; Tipperary Knights; Tullamore; Portlaoise Panthers and hosts, Killester.

Further Good News

The club also received further good news this week when it was confirmed that Garvey’s Supervalu have come on board as ‘home game’ sponsors for the ladies national league games.

“We’re delighted to have Garvey’s on board as they have been loyal sponsors of the club for years now,” said club Chairman, Eamon Egan.

Tom McCarthy Team Sponsor

“Having Tom McCarthy as team sponsor ensured that the girls could enter the league which is huge for the club and now with Garvey’s on board it takes the pressure off the expense of home games. I hope that people support both businesses because they are fantastic to the community,” said Mr. Egan.

Team Tom McCarthy’s will play their first league game in Portlaoise on October 6th and the first home game of the season which will be sponsored by Garvey’s SuperValu will be on October 13th when they will tip off against U.L. Huskies at Castleisland Community Centre at 6.30pm.
