Club Results

Killarney Plaza U-15 Div1 Castleisland AFC 2 v Ballyheigue 1

An exciting opening game and the first of the season for Castleisland who were without regular goalkeeper Conor Wilkinson.

They started well and it was no surprise when Alex Kepp put the lads ahead on the 28th min, in a tight game Freddie Galway seemed to have secured the points when he put the lads two up on the 64th minute but a resurgence by the Ballyheigue team led to a goal in the 85th min which led to a nervy last five minutes but the lads held tough to gather all three points, stand in goalkeeper, Conor O’Neill was excellent throughout the game.

FAI Cup U-13 Bridge United, Clare 1 v 0 Castleisland AFC

The U-13 team made the journey to Clare to play Bridge United on Saturday, unfortunately in a tight game where both defences played well one goal settled the game in the Clare sides favour a fantastic shot from the edge of the area after a corner was cleared saw the ball fly into the top corner of the goal giving our young keeper Chris Devane no chance.

Our boys fought all the way  in the second half but just couldn’t find the net. A great effort by all the team especially Issac,  Evan, Declan and Daniel Murphy in defence, Daniel giving a man of the match performance for Castleisland .Well done lads and we can look forward to the first league game shortly

Quills Woollen Mills U-14 Girls Premier

Castleisland AFC 1 v  6 Inter Kenmare: The girls played their first game ever on Saturday against a strong Kenmare team.

Most of these girls are under age next year so are using this year to build their conditioning.

They started nervously but after conceding an early goal they responded well.

Tara Kerins, Erin O’Connor and Shauna Wilkinson were causing havoc to the Inter defence and this paid off when Kerins found Wilkinson who went on a powerful run down the right and shot a thunderbolt into the bottom right corner to give the girls a historic equaliser.

The girls put in a great performance with Aoife Roche and Katie O’Connor strong at the back with goalkeeper Grace O’Callaghan performing heroically but the experienced Kenmare team pulled away in the second half, well done to all.
