It’s the time of year when the captaincy of golf clubs change hands and the outgoing share their memories and the incoming their aspirations.
As a club captaincy goes, Castleisland Women’s Club captain, Mary Ann Downes had a dream of a term in the club blazer.
Noreen Moore Highlights
“The highlight of the year was obviously the winning of the Noreen Moore Trophy which brought great pride to the club,” said Mary Ann without a split second of hesitation.
“The membership of the ladies club increased and we had weekly coaching sessions for the new members.
“We had the amazing ‘Play in Pink’ fund raiser for Breast Cancer Research and a fantastic turnout over the two days – a lot has been done but there is always more.
New Competition Category
“We introduced a new category for Sunday competitions to make it a level playing field and this has been a tremendous success and has improved the ladies golf no end.
“I would like to thank my committee for all their hard work. I wish to sincerely thank our sponsors during 2018.
Best Wishes for 2019
“My best wishes for the year ahead to Bertha O’Sullivan the incoming lady captain and to Kim Mullins incoming vice captain and to Eamon Feeley the incoming men’s captain and Brendan Mullins his incoming vice captain the very best for 2019.
“And congratulations to all our winners for 2018 and all who contributed to a most enjoyable year,” Mary Ann concluded.
