Muire Gan Smál Primary School wishes to thank everybody involved in the 49th annual St. Mary’s Christmas Basketball Blitz.

“We had the best five days ever with our two teams playing their hearts out and having so much fun,” spokesperson / teacher, Emma Sweeney.

No Better Way
“There is no better way to celebrate the holidays and enter the new year re-energised than to have played in ‘The Blitz’ and it’s definitely the place to be over the Christmas period!

“From the annual bag of Hot Lips and sitting on the blue seats to that feeling in your stomach when the ref throws up that basketball, we wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!

Performed Amazingly Well
“Our two teams performed amazingly well in ‘The Blitz’ with our senior team reaching the semi-finals and our junior team narrowly missing out on a win in the final.

The girls showed super determination and skill and more importantly had fun and displayed a real sense of teamwork.

Thanks Tommy Dom

We also want to thank our coach Tommy Dom O’Connor who is always so supportive and helps us every step of the way!
Special mention to everyone involved from the committee, refs, the people doing the scoresheet, the shopkeepers,to the multi-tasking photographer Liz Galwey and of course Donal ‘Duke’ O’Connor. We can’t wait for the 50th!!!!
