Meanwhile, a win on the road has boosted the confidence of Team Tom McCarthy’s.The St Mary’s girls have had some big performances against some of the leagues stronger sides over the past number of weeks but still failed to get the desired result.

However, they were rewarded at the weekend when they had a 90 to 64 away win over U.L. Huskies.

Evenly Matched

The first quarter was evenly matched. A Brilliant Job

“We played man-to-man and Mia Hopkins was given the task of marking Abbigail Goodsell and she did a brilliant job on her. The girls played great as a team, Mia worked hard outside while Lorraine Scanlon was fantastic inside and worked well with Maebh Barry. We saw some smart play from Orla White and the younger players such as Labhaoise Walmsley did really well. We had a lot of fast breaks in the second quarter which were converted to scores,” said Coach Culloty.

Team Tom McCarthy’s held a 70 to 54 lead going into the final quarter which they once again dominated. Huge accuracy from the free throw line throughout the game and in particular in the final quarter saw the squad register 86 percent accuracy for the game.
