Team Tom McCarthy’s further strengthened their chances of securing a place in the playoffs with a win on home turf at the weekend.

They had a strong opening quarter with Lorraine Scanlon netting 10 points, Denise Dunlea eight and Labhaoise Walmsley hitting two.
Good Defence
Good defence by the home side saw them hold Limerick Celtics to just nine points, a three pointers, two from Taylor Williams and another from Laura Stapleton.
A sluggish second quarter in this Garvey’s SuperValu sponsored home game allowed the visitors to make up some ground.
Jenny Morrisson, Taylor Williams and Laura Stapleton all performed well and Celtics outscored St. Mary’s by five closing the gap to six points at the half time interval.
More Focused
The home side came back after the break more focused and very much on target, Scanlon was scoring under the boards while Mia Hopkins stepped up her game – defence was good and they took the quarter 29 points to seven.
The scoreboard read 57 points to 39 as the sides entered the final quarter and St. Mary’s continued to perform. Orla White had a number of assists as did Mia Hopkins while Scanlon, Dunlea, Walmsley and Sarah O’Sullivan all converted.

Team Tom McCarthy’s travel to Galway next weekend where they tip off at 4pm against Fab Plus Northwest.
Juvenile Club News:
St. Mary’s had great success at the Kerry Area Basketball Board juvenile cup finals.
Teams were victorious in the division one boys U-12, division one girls U-14 and girls U-16 while the U-12 division one girls and U-14 division one boys were runners up. Congratulations to players and coaches.
