No strangers to the use of digital technologies to advance the education of students in their care, Presentation Secondary School celebrated Safer Internet day this week.

Positive Online Behaviour

The occasion was marked with a series of workshops to educate students about positive online behaviour and how to deal with the issues that arise for them online.

Facilitated by Danute Voveryte the school’s Safer Internet Day Ambassador the workshops promoted the safe and positive use of digital technology among young people.

Webwise Youth Panel

Danute is also a member of the Webwise Youth Panel. This panel consists of 30 young people nationally who develop resources for parents, teachers and students in the area of internet safety.

“The workshops involved activities to highlight the dangers students encounter online and encouraged each student to think about their own online behaviour“ according to Annette Leen ICT coordinator.

Whole Hearted Engagement

“The fact that they were peer lead meant that students engaged whole heartedly with the workshops as they felt that one of their peers understood best precisely the issues they face online” said Ms. Leen.
