Olympics Hero Gary is Still Spreading the Happiness

Abu Dhabi double medalist, Gary O’Sullivan brought back gifts from the games for his friend Killian Horgan-Lyons and his brother Adam.

Castleisland’s Gold and Silver Medal Special Olympics Hero Gary O’Sullivan was out and about sharing the kindness at the core of his being during the week.

Gary paid a visit to O’Connell Demense, off the Limerick Road here in Castleisland, to present a timely gift of a pair of sunglasses to his friend Killian Horgan-Lyons.

Special Olympics Pins

He also brought back two Special Olympics pins from Abu Dhabi to Killian and his brother, Adam.

A week or so before he departed with the Irish team for the World Games in Abu Dhabi, Gary met the boys’ mom, Ruth on the street here and promised her he’d bring back a present for his young friends.

The Gift of Happiness

Gary brought back the gift of happiness to his community – the thanks for which was expressed by that community outpouring through the Charlie Farrelly organised, torch-lit parade through the town on March 23rd.

In spite of being mobbed on the occasion on the street and later at the Ivy Leaf Art Centre, Gary missed Killian from the crowd and that’s why he called with the gifts for Killian and Adam this week.

Fair play to you Gary – you’re a champion in every sense of the word.
