The prolific, artistic tendencies in the air at Castleisland Day Care Centre have surfaced again.

This time with a book, which is the result of a creative writing project held in the centre in June 2018.

Collaborative Project

The attendees compiled the book and wrote under the headings of : Wisdom in Togetherness; Reflections; Stories and Letters.

The project was a collaboration with Kerry County Council Arts Department, Creative Community Grant Scheme 2018.

Clients of the centre were given the opportunity to explore the literary arts by taking part in creative writing workshops facilitated by Noel King which resulted in this publication.

Reflection of Past

For many participants their story is a reflection of their past, for others it was an opportunity to be creative with their imagination.

“We’re delighted to have Ciara Griffin, captain of the Irish women’s rugby team to launch our book at 2:30pm on Friday May 31st.,” said centre nurse/manager, Marcella Finn.

“This coincides with the end of Bealtaine, Ireland’s festival of celebration of the arts and creativity as we age.

Celebrating Bealtaine

“Castleisland Day Care Centre has had a month long celebration of Bealtaine with visual art, music, dance and photography culminating in our book launch.

“We look forward to welcoming Ciara on launch day and the books will be for sale locally and in the centre for €5 on and after the launch date,” said Ms. Finn.
