U-14 Boys Co. League Winners

The Castleisland Desmonds U-14 Boys won the Co. League Division 4 title on Wednesday evening on the score of 2-13 to 1-15 by defeating a gallant and spirited Milltown-Castlemaine team in a  trilling game of football in Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

Going in at half-time leading by 1-10 to five points and having played with a very strong wind to their backs, you always felt, would it be enough for the boys to hold on to this lead.

The opposition then took full advantage of the strong wind and this resulted in the game being a draw at 1-13 each on the 26th minute of the second half, but credit to all of the Desmonds team they worked the ball up towards the Horan’s end of the ground and we saw Mint O’Connor score a cracker of a goal on the 28th minute.

But the opposition brought it down to a one point lead for Desmonds in the remaining minutes of the game

But the boys from ‘The Island’ held on for a very well deserved victory by one point.

Well done to all the players and their mentors thanks also to great support for the team on the night.

Seniors Lose to Glenbeigh- Glencar

Men’s Senior team played Glenbeigh- Glencar in round 3 of the Co. League Division 2. While we went in at half time at five points each , unfortunately the visitors stepped up the tempo of the game and this resulted in them winning on the score of 2-16 to 0-10.
